Stainless Steel U Tube Manufacturer
We at Xintongda Special Steel (XTD) manufacture high-quality stainless steel U-tubes in Songyang, China. A Stainless U-tube is a special shaped tube. It is made by cold bending seamless stainless steel tubes manufactured from solid billets. It is known for minimising the risk of potential leakages, eliminating additional fittings to reverse the fluid direction, and improving the structural integrity of the system. These properties make it useful in high-temperature and high-pressure applications like boilers, heat exchanger systems, superheaters, reheaters, etc. Here at XTD, we make the U-shaped SS tubes mainly from 304 and 316 grades. We also offer the tubes in custom-made shapes and sizes ranging from 12.7-127mm. Being a multiple international certified manufacturer and supplier since 1985, we have an annual supply capacity of 25,000 tons. We can deliver in-stock U shaped steel tubes within a week and production orders in 15-60 days. All our stainless steel U tubing is manufactured according to international ASTM A213 standard.

What is Stainless Steel U Tube?
A stainless steel U tube is a tubular product made of stainless steel material and bent into a U shape. Its main purpose is to redirect the flow of fluids in a tubing system. This tube is known for maintaining structural integrity under cyclic thermal stress. It is preferred for both horizontal and vertical mounting in various applications. At Xintongda, we provide these U shaped SS tubes with high-end surface finishes as per the industrial needs.
How is Stainless Steel U Tube Manufactured?
To manufacture a stainless steel U-tube, we first heat a solid billet of the SS material and pierce it to form a hollow shell. This shell is then hot-worked and cold-drawn to achieve precise dimensions, wall thickness, and surface finish. Then comes annealing and pickling, after which the straight SS tube is carefully bent into a U shape using cold-bending equipment. The last step involves heat treatment and a straightness check, and then it is sent for testing. To learn the whole production process, visit this page.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the best stainless steel tubing for bending? The 304 grade is usually considered the best stainless steel tubing for bending, as it has very good ductility and formability.
-
What is the difference between a stainless steel seamless U tube vs welded? The main difference between a stainless steel seamless U tube and a welded tube is that it is made by piercing and treating a single solid billet and then bending it into a U shape. A welded U-tube, on the other hand, is made by welding flat sheets into a straight tube that is later bent into a U shape.
-
Why is the stainless steel tube bent in a U shape specifically? The stainless steel tube is particularly bent in a U shape because it optimally utilises the space, manages thermal expansion, and improves heat transfer in many applications.
