Hastelloy C-22: Corrosion-Resistant Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum Alloy

1. Introduction:

Formability: Hastelloy C22 is suitable for both cold and hot forming processes. It can be shaped into various components without compromising its properties.

Weldability: Due to its good thermal stability, C22 can typically be used in the welded condition without requiring subsequent heat treatment.

2. Characteristics:

  1. Corrosion Resistance:
    • Hastelloy C-22 offers exceptional resistance to both oxidizing and non-oxidizing chemicals.
    • Protection from pitting, crevice attack, and stress corrosion cracking.
    • High chromium content provides superior resistance to oxidizing media compared to the family standard, C-276 alloy.
    • Resists chloride-induced pitting, a form of attack that stainless steels are prone to.
  2. Mechanical Strength:
    • In the aged condition, C-22HS® alloy has almost double the mechanical strength of “C-type” alloys without compromising corrosion resistance.
    • Suited for sour environments in oil and gas production.

3. Techniques:

4. Applications:

Environmental Technology:

Agitators, heat exchangers, fans, linings, and pipelines.

Spray systems.

Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems:

Used in waste incineration plants and power plants for components like flaps, gate valves, and measuring probes.

Wastewater Treatment Systems:

C22 bars find applications in pipelines, evaporation plants, and crystallizers.

Chemical Engineering:

Chlorine gas and hydrogen chloride production plants utilize C22 for shut-off devices, gate valves, pipelines, and centrifuges.

Chlorine bleach systems also benefit from C22 bars

Remember, Hastelloy C-22 combines high corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and versatility, making it a reliable choice for critical applications.
