Inconel 600 Seamless Nickel Alloy Tube Summary

Inconel 600 Seamless Nickel Alloy PipeInconel 600 (UNS N06600, W.Nr. 2.4816) is a nickel-chromium alloy known for its excellent corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, and versatility in extreme environments. Seamless tubes made from Inconel 600 are produced without welds, offering superior structural integrity for high-pressure and high-temperature applications. They are widely used in industries such as chemical processing, aerospace, power generation, and heat treatment.

Pipes are typically supplied solution-annealed, with optional pickling or polishing.

Manufactured via hot extrusion followed by cold drawing/rolling. Testing includes hydrostatic, ultrasonic, eddy current, and PMI (Positive Material Identification)

Applications

  • Chemical Processing: Acid and alkali handling, chlorination systems.
  • Power Generation: Boiler tubes, steam generators, nuclear reactor components.
  • Aerospace: Exhaust liners, turbine seals, high-temperature components.
  • Heat Treatment: Furnace retorts, muffles, and radiant tubes.
  • Oil & Gas: Sour gas environments and high-temperature pipelines.

Inconel 600 resists oxidation, carburization, and chloride stress-corrosion cracking, making it suitable for both oxidizing and reducing environments.

Comparison with UNS N08031Compared to UNS N08031 (Alloy 31), Inconel 600 has lower molybdenum and nitrogen, making it less resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments. However, Inconel 600 excels at higher temperatures (up to 1093°C vs. 427°C for N08031) and is more cost-effective for less aggressive corrosive conditions.
