ASTM B622 Alloy C276 Seamless Pipe Manufacturer
We at Xintongda Special Steel (XTD) are a reliable manufacturer and supplier of alloy C276 seamless pipes. This nickel, molybdenum, chromium, tungsten alloy, known as UNS N10276, is made up of roughly 15-17% molybdenum and 14.5-16.5% chromium, giving it excellent resistance to severe corrosion. Being reputable Alloy C276 pipe manufacturers, we produce these pipes in line with the ASTM B622 EN, JIS, GB, GOST, ISO and UNS standards, which helps in maintaining the uniformity of the chemical composition, mechanical properties and dimensional accuracy of the pipes suitable for the demanding conditions of the service. Our seamless alloy C276 pipe is one of the most popular grades where stainless steels fail from corrosion as it can withstand wet chlorine gas and strong reducing acids. Special features like low carbon content and addition of tungsten help to eliminate carbide precipitation during welding. Seamless construction is a term applied to the methods of building and materials that aim at completely getting rid of joints, seams, or visible breaks in the structure. This approach is widely used in roofing systems, gutters, concrete installations, piping, and more. The benefits of seamless construction are well-documented in authoritative books on architecture, engineering, and materials science. These pipes find essential use in chemical reactors, pollution control scrubbers, and pharmaceutical lines. Every order undergoes strict quality checks before delivery to as Alloy C276 pipe supplier maintain our reputation for excellence. We are Multiple International Certified and offer competitive pricing for Alloy C276 Pipe to support projects. Our minimum order quantity (MOQ) is 200 kg, though stock items have no MOQ. Alloy C276 Seamless Pipe Manufacturing Process
The manufacturing process of our C276 alloy seamless pipe starts with the melting of highly pure raw materials. Using an electric arc furnace and argon, based secondary refining, the work is done under very stringent process control to attain a material that complies with the UNS N10276 standard. Next, we raise the temperature of the alloy billets to solidify them and then use a mandrel press to hot extruded them. In the cold state, the billets are either drawn or rolled to obtain the exact final diameter and wall thickness. After that, the pipes are solution annealed, acid pickled, and subjected to non-destructive testing to confirm a fine surface finish and internal soundness.
Key Features of Seamless Alloy C276 Pipe
The following 7 features define why this alloy remains the industry standard for handling the most corrosive media.
- Superior Corrosion Resistance: The balanced mix of nickel, molybdenum, and chromium allows this alloy to resist a vast range of oxidising and reducing acids. It ensures long-term pipe integrity even when exposed to hot, contaminated chemical solutions.
- Resistance to Localised Corrosion: High molybdenum levels provide the pipe with exceptional protection against pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments. This feature prevents sudden structural failures in applications involving seawater or brine.
- Superior Weldability: This material is easy to join using TIG or MIG welding without losing its corrosion-resistant properties. It simplifies the fabrication process because most installations do not require post-weld heat treatment.
- Low Carbon Content: A maximum carbon level of 0.01% prevents chromium carbide from forming at the grain boundaries during the welding process. This keeps the welded joints just as resistant to corrosion as the rest of the pipe body.
- Resistant to Wet Chlorine & Chlorine-Based Streams: It is one of the few alloys that can survive the harsh effects of wet chlorine gas and hypochlorite solutions. This makes the pipe indispensable for bleaching sections in pulp and paper mills.
- Suitable for Strong Reducing Acid Conditions: The high nickel content of the pipe ensures its stability and reliability when used to transport aggressive acids such as hydrochloric, sulfuric, or phosphoric. The pipe also lasts longer in reducing environments where ordinary stainless steels would get damaged very quickly.
- Temperature Resistance: These pipes remain mechanically strong from cryogenic temperatures up to 1040°C (1900°F), depending on service conditions. Their thermal stability makes them suitable for reliable use in high heat reactors and power generation heat exchangers.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What standards/specifications should I require when buying Alloy C276 pipe? You should request ASTM B622 for seamless pipes and ensure the material meets UNS N10276 chemistry. Always ask for an EN 10204 3.1 MTC to verify the molybdenum and chromium content.
-
What is the maximum operating temperature of Nickel Alloy C-276 Pipe?Nickel Alloy C-276 pipes are capable of functioning without deterioration over a broad temperature range, starting from cryogenic conditions and going up to 750°F (400°C) for continuous service. They can also be used at very high temperatures, 1900°F (1038°C), when exposed to specially strong reducing agents, without a significant loss in their performance.
-
What is the difference between seamless and welded Alloy C-276 pipes?Alloy C276 (UNS N10276) seamless pipes come from a solid piece of metal that is heated, hot extruded, and rolled into a hollow tube. This method leads to a consistent grain structure, better compactness, and great mechanical properties, which make seamless tubes perfect for both high-pressure and highly corrosive environments. In contrast, welded Alloy C-276 pipes are made by first bending the alloy sheets or strips into a pipe shape and then welding the seam. Usually, these types of pipes are affordable and can be used in situations where the internal pressure and mechanical load are lower.
-
Which type of Alloy C-276 pipe should I choose? The selection depends on the application requirements. Seamless Alloy C-276 pipes (SMLS) are recommended for high-pressure, high-temperature, and critical service conditions where strength and reliability are essential. Welded Alloy C-276 pipes are suitable for low-pressure systems, such as utility piping, water distribution, or fire protection lines, where cost efficiency is a priority.
